Scientists from 12 countries say they have moved a step closer to diagnosing autism at an early stage, following a three-year genetic study of the condition.
The researchers used a new technique to better identify the genes thought to cause autism - a complex and mysterious brain disorder which results in diffculties in communication and social interaction.
They say this could eventually help them develop new treatments.
