More asylum seekers intercepted

A boat carrying 92 asylum seekers has been intercepted near Scott Reef off the north west coast of Western Australia.

Authorities boarded the boat after passengers on board called for help.

The ABC reports it was found to be taking on a significant amount of water and was deemed unseaworthy.

The passengers are being taken to Christmas Island for processing.

Another asylum boat carrying 55 people arrived at Christmas Island on 13 May without being stopped.

Three days earlier, the federal opposition said more than 4500 people had turned up so far.
