The Arab League has given approval to a resumption of indirect peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
However, chief Palestinian negotiator Saab Erekat has warned that any Israeli building activity in disputed territory would put an immediate end to the talks.
Israel has welcomed the endorsement, which was issued on Saturday.
A statement by a committee of foreign ministers of the league said the the outcome would be reviewed after four months, before any direct talks are held.
The United States has said the talks will begin next week.
Plans to launch indirect talks failed last month after Israel announced plans to build 1600 more houses in occupied East Jerusalem.
Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have been stalled since 2008.
Israel has occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 1967.
Nearly half a million Jews live in more than 100 settlements in the West Bank. The BBC reports the settlements are illegal under international law.
