The National Gallery of Victoria has acquired one of the 1955 Ned Kelly series by Sidney Nolan.
Kelly With Horse was bought by the Victorian Government from a private collector for $A2.2 million.
It has been gifted to the NGV to mark its 150th birthday celebrations next year.
The ABC reports the image of Kelly in a black helmet is one of the most dramatic depictions of the outlaw from the series.
