Australian media are reporting the New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal has cut the 84-year-old's jail sentence to a maximum of 10 months with a non-parole period of four months because of his declining health.

He was sentenced to 14 months' jail with a seven month non-parole period last October.

Brierly was arrested at Sydney airport in 2019 when thousands of illegal images of young girls were found on his laptop and USB drives.

He is reportedly now eliglible for parole on 13 February.
