Two Queensland men accused of recruiting Australians to fight in Syria will appear in a Brisbane court today.
A 21 year old man from Boronia Heights, and a 31 year old man from Kuraby are accused of recruiting, funding and facilitating people to fight in Syria.
Australian Federal police (AFP) and local police raided nine properties in Logan city in Brisbane and arrested the two men who had been under surveillance as part of a counter terrorism operation, the ABC reported.
It is alleged the pair raised money for a terrorist operation linked to al-Qaeda.
AFP assistant commissioner Neil Gaughan said there was no evidence and attack was being planned in Australia, but there is alleged evidence of terrorism activity.
"This was no a hasty decision, and due to public safety concerns, we really had no option but to proceed."
One of the accused men was reported to be a brother of the first Australian suicide bomber to die in Syria.
