More than 50,000 Australians have applied for one of the 8000 tickets available for the 100th anniversary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli.

The Australian ballot for places at the 2015 celebration has closed.

Senator Michael Ronaldson is assisting Prime Minister Tony Abbott wit the ballot and says those successful will be notified by the end of March.

More than 8000 people entered the ballot for the 2000 tickets available for New Zealanders. They will also be advised if they have been successful by the end of March.
