A tropical cyclone alert issued for Tonga has been cancelled.
The Fiji Meteorological Service said on Monday that Ian, a category 1 cyclone, was about 194km northwest of the Ha'apai and Vava'u island groups.
Tonga's Metservice later said the storm had been moving away to the west and the alert for the whole country was cancelled.
However a strong wind warning was still in force for the Ha'apai and Vava'u groups.
