A student was killed and 60 arrested in Egypt on Saturday as supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood clashed with police and university buildings in Cairo were set on fire.
State TV blamed the protesters for the fire at the al-Azhar University where students have regularly staged protests since the army overthrew former president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July.
The Brotherhood was declared a terrorist group on Wednesday following a suicide bombing at a police building in the Nile Delta.
Five people were killed in clashes across Egypt on Friday.
Al-Azhar is one of the main centres of Sunni Muslim learning. The BBC reports the fires were brought under control by Saturday afternoon.
