Six American soldiers died in a crash involving an aircraft in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The International Security Assistance Force said the cause of the crash in Zabul is unknown.
A statement said initial reports indicated there was no enemy activity in the area at the time of the incident.
Aircraft crashes are not uncommon in Afghanistan.
