Rudd makes final campaign speech

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has used his final speech of the election campaign to defend his record in office.

Polls suggest the ruling Labor party will finish behind the opposition Coalition in Saturday's election.

Mr Rudd told the National Press Club on Thursday that a Coalition government would make damaging cuts and he says he has plans for building the nation.

He says there is substance to Labor's nation-building plans for
