Mali has a new president: former prime minister Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.
His rival, former finance minister Soumaila Cisse has congratulated him on his victory.
No official results have yet been released following Sunday's runoff. However, reports had put Mr Keita well ahead.
In the first round Mr Cisse polled 19% against Mr Keita's 40%. The BBC reports most of the other candidates then gave Mr Keita their endorsements.
Mr Keita, 68, who is known as IBK, served as prime minister from 1994 - 2000.
Mali has seen a year of unrest including a military coup and a military intervention led by France to oust rebels from the north.
