Extra visitors are being attracted to Canberra as the ACT holds its centenary celebrations.
A survey by Tourism Research Australia found the number of people visiting Canberra for a holiday increased by more than 50% in the March quarter.
There were 526,000 domestic overnight visitors and 537,000 day trip visitors.
The ABC reports the increase coincides with a big programme of events for the capital's centenary.
More than 2 million visitors contributed an estimated $A1.18 billion to the ACT economy in the year to March.
