Fifty five people have been killed in the north-east of Nigeria in attacks by the Boko Haram group.
The Nigerian army said 105 prisoners were freed in a pre-dawn raid in Bama, a remote town in Borno state on Tuesday, in which the police station, military barracks and government buildings were burned to the ground.
The BBC reports the raid began when some 200 heavily-armed Boko Haram members arrived in buses and pick-up trucks at about 5am. It lasted almost five hours.
They broke into the prison to free the prisoners and kill the warden, and burned public buildings.
Late last month, a military patrol was attacked in Baga, also in Borno state. Nearly 200 people died.
