President Barack Obama is on a state visit to Mexico in a bid to deepen economic ties with Latin America.
Mexico is the United States' third largest trade partner and Mr Obama has said he is keen to discuss job creation on both sides of the border with President Enrique Pena Nieto.
The Mexican president has begun an ambitious reform agenda. He wants to overhaul the tax system and energy sector to boost economic growth.
The two presidents are also likely to discuss the fate of an agreement that would remove obstacles to expanding deepwater drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
The United States has yet to finalize the deal, know as the Transboundary Hydrocarbons Agreement.
Mr Obama will also visit Costa Rica.
