All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen has been named new head coach of Toronto FC, a major league football team in Canada.
Nelsen, 35, is under contract to English premier league side Queens Park Rangers till 30 June, but Toronto FC's website says Nelsen is in discussion with QPR as to when he will officially head for Canada.
Toronto's season begins in March. Nelson has made 21 appearances for QPR since last June.
Nelsen said QPR is sympathetic with his situation and he will play in a game against Tottenham on Saturday.
Nelsen said he had not discussed his international future with New Zealand Football yet but is aiming to do so very soon.
Nelsen, who led New Zealand at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, spent four years at DC United in the United States before moving to Blackburn in 2005.
He had a short spell at Tottenham before moving to QPR last year.
