Carnegie Hall about to reopen

6:09 am on 8 November 2012

Carnegie Hall will reopen on 7 November for the first time since Sandy hit New York City last week.

All Broadway productions cancelled at least one performance last week due to the storm.

According to The Broadway League, 48 performances in total were cancelled, with The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera among the shows affected.

However, within two days of the storm passing, theatres had generally returned to normality.

But a damaged crane dangling above West 57th Street caused street closures in the Carnegie Hall area.

The BBC reports most of the street was re-opened on Sunday, though Carnegie Hall itself still needed to restore its power.
