DPP drops case against Hicks

Australia's Director of Public Prosecutions has dropped a case against former Guantanamo Bay inmate David Hicks.

The case had been based on the argument that the profits of a memoir written by Mr Hicks amounted to the proceeds of crime.

The book, published last year, describes training with Islamic armed forces and detention in Guantanamo Bay on a charge of supporting terrorism.

The Director of Public Prosecutions office says it has dropped the case because some of the evidence against Mr Hicks might not have been admissible in court.
