A British man jailed for murdering his first wife and trying to kill his second wife in New Zealand has been denied the use of some legal arguments in an appeal against his conviction and sentence.
Malcolm Webster was sentenced to prison for 30 years in Scotland last year after being found guilty of murdering his first wife in a car crash in 1994 and attempting to murder Felicity Drumm of New Zealand, his second wife, in a similar manner five years later.
He is now arguing the sentence is excessive and his lawyer went to court this week seeking permission to include three legal arguments in the appeal, citing them as arguable.
But three judges at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh ruled cause had not been satisfactorily shown for using the arguments, which they said had already been rejected by the court.
