bin Laden raid details still under wraps

A federal judge in the United States has refused to order President Barack Obama's administration to release pictures and video of the US military operation that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in May last year.

The Judicial Watch group had requested the Defense Department and CIA to release pictures and video images of the operation.

The CIA said it found 52 such records, but refused to release them citing exemptions to the US Freedom of Information Act law for classified materials.

Judge James Boasberg backed the agency, saying verbal descriptions of the death and burial of bin Laden would have to suffice.

Judicial Watch has appealed to the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
