Two trains collided in southern Poland on Saturday night killing at least 14 people.

The BBC reports the incident occurred at 9.15pm in the town of Szczekociny, near Zawiercie, when a train travelling north from Przemysl to Warsaw collided with a train from Warsaw to Cracow.

Another 60 people were injured in the collision.

Polish TV broadcast images of white and green train wagons that appeared to have been knocked off the tracks.

An investigation has been launched into how one of the trains came to be on the wrong track.
