The search continues for men who robbed properties in Kawakawa and Kaikohe overnight.
Police are investigating the two separate robberies but said they did not believed they were random.
They said they were called to the Kawakawa property just after 9pm.
Two men carrying guns were reported demanding a vehicle at the property.
Police said a section of State Highway 1 was cordoned off and the Armed Offenders Squad was deployed.
Detective inspector of Northland CIB Rhys Johnston said the offenders were not found at the property, which was cleared just after 12am.
No one was injured at the Kawakawa property.
Johnston said police were also investigating another robbery overnight at a Kaikohe property, which was reported at 11.15pm.
"At least two men made threats towards the occupant of this address, before assaulting him but medical attention was not required."
He said police "do not tolerate threatening or violent behaviour involving firearms".
