12:04 am on 2 July 2018

A person has been arrested in relation to the death of a young man in rural Christchurch last week.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder and will appear in Christchurch District Court this morning.

Police have confirmed a body found on Saturday was Oliver Johnston, 20, who had been the subject of a search after what the police described as a serious assault against him a week earlier.

Mr Johnston was also known as Oliver Greene.

The investigation into his death is ongoing, as is the scene examination where the body was found.

On Thursday, police learned a man's body had been found at an extensive rural property in Jelfs Road, in Woodend, but it took them two days to find it.
