For trans youth, coming out isn’t easy. That needs to change.
Knowing there wasn’t gender-neutral bathrooms or changing rooms at school was something Bella Simpson struggled with growing up. Now a trans rights activist, Bella says we need to ensure that young people feel comfortable and safe in their community.
“We need to accept those trans kids and just treat them like normal. Not keep asking them why they’ve come out, who they are, what’s in their pants or any of those sorts of questions.
“You just have to accept that they’re out and respect them.”
