Zane Lowe at Rhythm and Vines

Since heading abroad in the mid ‘90s, Zane Lowe has forged a sparkling career abroad as a DJ on the BBC and MTV, a career that has now eclipsed his notable work in New Zealand as a member of Breaks Co-Op and hip-hop group Urban Disturbance. His prime-time show on BBC’s Radio 1 is particularly acclaimed, credited with helping spark the popularity of artists like Gnarls Barkley, James Blake and Arctic Monkeys. Just before his midnight set at this year’s Rhythm and Vines, Zane talked to The Wireless about the trials and tribulations of DJing on New Year’s Eve.
