Ministry of Education statistics show 66% of Maori school leavers have attained NCEA at level one or more.
The figures for the 2010 year show that compares with a 76% pass rate for Pasifika students and 91% for Asian pupils.
Overall, 82% of students left school with an NCEA qualification.
