The re-elected head of Ngai Tahu, Mark Solomon, says one of the priorities on his agenda is the iwi's input in the reconstruction of Christchurch.
The tribe has been working closely with the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority and the city council on the new plans for Otautahi following the devastating quake in February.
Mr Solomon says the iwi has formed a committee, Te Awhi Ru Whenua, to work with Cantabrians who've been made homeless and report back on the recovery process.
He says Ngai Tahu is determined to reflect its identity on the new face of Christchurch.
Mr Solomon says the iwi is very much at the decision making table on all aspects of a new look for the city.
