He said he was humbled and excited by the appointment to guide its new Māori media strategy.

Mr Nathan will lead the organisation's response to the new Māori media strategy, He Mahere Whakapuaki Reo, while also overseeing the Content Funding Team.

"I also look forward to working with the Māori media sector to create innovative, engaging and effective Māori language content for broadcast across multiple platforms that promote the Māori language and culture," he said.

Te Māngai Pāho Chief Executive Larry Parr said he was pleased to have secured someone of the calibre of Te Anga.

"There couldn't be a better time for Te Māngai Pāho to bring on someone like Te Anga, particularly with advances in technology and convergence of media.

"With his commitment to te reo Māori and broad media experience, he is well placed to lead our drive for better and more engaging te reo Māori content," Mr Parr said.

Mr Nathan is set to take up the role later this month.
