Creative New Zealand is giving two Māori artists the chance to take part in one of the world's biggest indigenous arts events being held in Canada.
The Banff Centre, which hosts more than 8000 artists every year, commissions and supports the creation of new works.
Creative New Zealand is urging Māori dancers and writers to apply for a spot on its residency programmes, with all expenses paid.
The agency's international advisor said it was a great opportunity for tāngata whenua to invest in themselves and their artistic practice.
Ana Sciascia of Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāi Tahu said they would be able to work collaboratively with other indigenous artists and explore indigenous expression.
She said it may reinforce some of their whakairo and their practice, or it may challenge them.
Māori artists are also being invited to apply for support from Creative New Zealand's International Indigenous Artform Exchange Fund.
This allows Māori artists and practitioners to collaborate with other indigenous artists in creating new work work.
The opportunity is open to artists, arts organisations and rōpū.
Applications close on 14 May.
