The broadband group, Nga Pu Waea, is taking a wait and see approach to how Te Mangai Paho handles the $30 million Maori information and communications technology budget.

The Maori broadcasting funding agency has been given the responsibility to allocate the fund.
The putea was announced in the 2014 budget, which aims to establish support of Maori economic development, language and culture through ICT.
Te Mangai Paho will establish an expert group to provide ongoing advice.
The Maori Broadband group, Nga Pu Waea chair, Antony Royal, said it would be a challenge to find members for the group as there were not many experienced tangata whenua in ICT.
He said it would be quite interesting to see how the agency dealt with the fund, as the broadcasting and ICT sectors were very different.
Mr Royal said ICT has had little investment in terms of capability development, whereas the Maori broadcasting sector has had many years to come up to speed.
