Labour's lone Tamaki Makaurau nominee, Will Flavell, says he's not fazed if the party reopens nominations for the race for the seat.

It's due to discuss whether it will seek further bids on Thursday, after ruling out former Television New Zealand executive, Shane Taurima, as a contender.

School teacher Will Flavell said he was disappointed he won't have the opportunity to contest Mr Taurima for the seat.

But he was not worried about other people putting their hands up to represent Labour. Mr Flavell said he did not believe in automatic nomination.

Instead, he supported the idea of earning the support of the party's membership and the Tamaki Makaurau constituency.
