The Labour Party has extended its nominations for the Tamaki Makaurau seat for a third time, coinciding with the release of a report into the actions of potential candidate Shane Taurima.

The deadline for nominations for the Maori electorate was meant to close on Tuesday but has now been extended to Monday next week.

General manager of the Maori and Pacific Unit, Shane Taurima, resigned in February when it was revealed some staff had used TVNZ offices and resources to host Labour Party meetings.

It's understood Shane Taurima will throw his hat into the ring for the Tamaki Makaurau electorate.

A TVNZ spokesperson says a report into what happened and whether there's been any bias within the news division will be out next week.
