A Bay of Plenty tribe has lost another round in its fight against the Tuhoe Treaty settlement.
Te Upokorehe says its territory has been wrongly included in the Crown's agreement with the larger iwi and it objects to being identified as a beneficiary of the Tuhoe settlement.
But the Maori affairs select committee has rejected a plea to step in and stop the Tuhoe legislation.
It says members of Te Upokorehe who are affiliated to Tuhoe will benefit from the settlement.
MPs on the committee say they're satisfied the agreement will not prevent Te Upokorehe from developing its own negotiations with the Crown.
Te Upokorehe - which is made up of five sub-tribes - has already failed to secure an urgent hearing at the Waitangi Tribunal, which found the claimant had failed to demonstrate significant and irreversible prejudice.
