The Kohanga Reo National Trust's management and trustees have racked up $180,000 in loans from the trust's commercial arm, Te Pataka Ohanga.

Information from Charities Services accounts show Te Pataka Ohanga has handed out tens of thousand of dollars to senior kohanga officials.

The accounts show Te Pataka Ohanga gave $28,000 in staff loans in the year to December 2012.

The total outstanding loan balance at that time was more than $179,500.

Most of the money has been lent to trustees of the Kohanga Reo National Trust.

Te Pataka Ohanga is at the centre of Serious Fraud Office and Charities Services investigations into allegations of financial mismanagement.

An Ernst & Young review found no misuse of public money by the parent company, Te Kohanga Reo National Trust.
