Three new members have been appointed on to the Waikato River Authority, the crown and iwi body in charge of looking after the health and well-being of the awa.
Three members, two of them iwi-appointed, retired late last year. They have been replaced by Traci Houpapa, who will represent the Crown, while Raukawa's Vanessa Eparaima and Ngati Maniapoto's Weo Maag are the iwi representatives.
The authority plans to support $250 million of programmes to clean up the waterway.
