Police asked to verify surveillance logs

7:41 pm on 10 December 2013

The Maori Party has asked the police to verify logs which are said to show people were kept under surveillance after the 2007 Te Urewera police raids, known as Operation 8.

Co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell says his information comes from a defendant in the Operation 8 case who faced court charges.

Mr Flavell says he is asking the police commissioner to confirm that surveillance went on for longer than first thought.

The logs show the police were tracking bank accounts, phone numbers, MPs and Maori organisations, he says.
