Turangawaewae Marae in Ngaruawahia will host a service to honour the late Nelson Mandela.
The office of the Kingitanga says Mr Mandela will be remembered as freedom fighter, former President of South Africa, Nobel Laureate and inspirational world leader.
Mr Mandela visited Turangawaewae in 1995 as a special guest of the late Maori Queen, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu.
The service will be held on Friday from 4pm and is open to everyone.
