A bill giving Maori Television the right to switch to a digital spectrum is now law.
MPs have voted in support of the Maori Television Service Amendment Bill.
People throughout the country have until 1 December before analogue is replaced by digital TV.
Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples says the bill transfers spectrum management rights from the Government to the Maori TV Service Electoral College, Te Putahi Paoho.
He says the Electoral College will allocate digital licences to the national station for a period of 20 years.
