Mana urging talks with the Maori Party

The Mana Movement says recent poll results in the Waiariki electorate back up its call for a merger between it and the Maori Party.

The Te Karere Digipoll surveyed 500 voters in the Bay of Plenty seat and showed 35% party vote support for the Maori Party, 29% for Labour and just 6% for Mana.

Mana president Annette Sykes says a Mana-Maori party would have a far more commanding lead over Labour. It highlights an underlying need for Mana and the Maori Party to secure an independent Maori voice for at the next election.

Ms Sykes says she hopes both the Maori Party leadership and its membership think carefully about meeting with Mana to talk about collaborating.
