The names Maia and Nikau were the two most popular Maori baby names last year.
The Department of Internal Affairs has released the top 20 Maori boys and girls names, to coincide with Maori Language Week, which is focused on names.
For girls, Aria and Manaia followed, and for boys, Wiremu and Kahurangi came in at second and third respectively.
