Online seminar a success

7:45 pm on 29 January 2013

The Mental Health Foundation is delighted with the success of its first online seminar.

Suicide prevention information manager Moira Clunie says there was a great response from a variety of health professionals.

She says more than 700 people from all over New Zealand including the Chatham Islands, and a handful from overseas, registered for the seminar.

Ms Clunie says the logistics and the cost of all those people travelling to one venue would have been huge.

She says the other benefit of the seminar was being able to organise questions on Maori suicide prevention by asking those who registered to email their queries several hours beforehand.

The next seminar on involving whanau and community in preventing suicides will be held in three weeks.
