Herbert not happy with slow start

The Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert concedes a slow start and missed chances hurt them in their 2-nil A-League football loss to Brisbane in the capital.

The Phoenix drop to third behind Brisbane.

The defending champion Roar were clinical in their finishing and expansive in their football while their goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos kept them in front when the Phoenix did apply pressure in the second half.

Herbert says they weren't going to sit back in the first half, but that's just how it panned out.

He says in the second half they did get players into good areas, however sometimes the delivery and finishing could have been better, something that hasn't been a problem in recent weeks.

The Phoenix are away to the top of the table Central Coast Mariners next week.
