Central has beaten Wellington by 25 runs in the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition at the Basin Reserve.
The Stags made 155 for nine off their 20 overs then restricted the Firebirds to 130 for nine, Wellington's Sri Lankan import Muttiah Muralidaran three for 18 in vain.
Jesse Ryder also limped off with yet another leg injury - the Black Caps batsman will miss Wednesday's home match against Auckland.
