The Melbourne Heart upstaged the star power of the Victory's Harry Kewell as they scored a 3-2 A-League derby win in front of a record crowd.
Player of the match Matt Thompson scored twice for the Heart in the first half after Archie Thompson had opened the score for the Victory in front of a record AAMI Park A-League crowd of 26,579.
Leading 2-1 at halftime, the Heart went further ahead with sub Alex Terra's goal in the 62nd minute, then Carlos Hernandez scored with a free kick for the Victory in the 92nd minute.
It was Heart's sixth win in seven games as they grabbed second spot, while the Victory sit eight points behind the table-topping Mariners in sixth place.
The win gives the Heart a 2-1 edge in Melbourne derbies, with two of the five games being drawn.
The Heart's grip on second spot could end on Monday, however, when Brisbane can move above the Heart with a draw or better against Gold Coast.
