A 15-year-old Liberian refugee has become the youngest player in the history of Australian football's A-League.
Teeboy Kamara was included in Adelaide United's squad for their home game Friday night against Gold Coast United, won by last-placed Gold Coast 3-0, upsetting Adelaide and extending their miserable A-League season.
Kamara was composed despite the pressure of being the youngest to play an A-League game since 16-year-old Newcastle Jet James Virgili in 2009.
The teen, whose family arrived in Australia when he was six, was stunned when Adelaide's coach told him he'd be on the bench, initially thinking he'd been selected in the youth team.
Kamara was selected as the youngest member of Australia's squad for the Under-17 World Cup earlier this year in Mexico.
On his return to Adelaide, his mother was in hospital and she died soon after.
