Woods finally a winner again

It was an unofficial event with an 18-strong field but former world golf number one Tiger Woods is finally a winner again.

Two years after his last tournament win Woods came from a shot down and two holes to play to win the Chevron World Challenge in California, beating fellow American Zach Johnson on the final hole.

The one-shot win is the his first victory since a sex scandal shattered his iconic image just days after winning the 2009 Australian Masters.

He'd gone 26 starts worldwide without a win since then, as personal turmoil was followed by struggles on the course with swing changes and injuries which have curtailed his bid to overhaul Jack Nicklaus's record of 18 majors, with Woods currently having 14.

While the Challenge is not an official US PGA Tour tournament, it counts toward the world rankings and Woods is set to rise form 52nd to 21st.
