The champion New Zealand rugby sevens side will play hosts Australia for a place in the final of the opening World Series tournament in Gold Coast, after Gordon Tietjens' men beat England 24-14 in the quarter-finals.
Frank Halai scored the opening try in the first minute after seemingly being trapped in his own 22.
But the rising star busted several tackles then ran the length of the field.
England replied after sustained pressure through Chris Cracknell but Tim Mikkelson crossed again right on the stroke of half-time with his 69th career sevens try to give New Zealand a 14-7 lead at the break.
England equalised again through Isoa Damudamu under three minutes later but Halai was on the end of a sweeping team movement shortly afterwards to go ahead 19-14.
Then Lote Raikabula sealed the win on full-time with another unconverted try.
Australia beat Samoa 14-12 to book their place against New Zealand in the semis.
Fiji will face South Africa in the other semi-final after wins over Wales and France respectively.
