New Zealand Cricket has recorded a lower than expected surplus of $2.60 million for the past financial year.
The chief executive officer Justin Vaughan says a strengthening New Zealand dollar has affected their revenue while income from international matches was also lower than usual, with just one home series against Pakistan last season.
Vaughan says the adverse impact was partly offset by a significant reduction in New Zealand Cricket's operational costs and financial support from the International Cricket Council following the Christchurch earthquakes.
Revenues for the year were $44.64 million, compared with $42.57 million the previous year while expenditure, excluding grants to associations, was $27.7 million compared to $32.9 million the previous year.
Vaughan says playing numbers increased by three percent with over 107,000 players now registered.
