The New Zealand driver Greg Murphy is confident New Zealand won't be dropped from the V8 Supercar circuit despite the demise of the Hamilton street race.
April's race will be the last in the city with competition organisers V8 Supercars terminating the seven-year deal signed in May last year.
Hamilton replaced Pukekohe in 2008 and while the chairman of V8 Supercars Tony Cochrane says there's no guarantee there'll be racing in New Zealand beyond 2012, Murphy says they're bound to have an alternative in the pipeline.
He says the obvious venue to host a V8 Supercar round would be the Hampton Downs race circuit south of Auckland.
