New Zealand boxer Joseph Parker has advanced to the next round of the amateur world championships in Azerbaijan.
The 19-year-old Aucklander beat Latvian Nikita Makulevics 14-10 on the fourth day to move a step closer to qualifying for the Olympics - the top eight qualify for London 2012.
No such luck for welterweight Ricky Murphy, beaten 21-6 by Welshman Fred Evans in his opening bout.
